She is a great gobbler of books, but reads only trash, memorizing nothing and leaving out the longer descriptions.

Vladimir Nabokov
About This Quote

The critic who criticizes his or her peers for their choice of reading material is likely to be the critic of the most. This person will criticize without making an effort to read the book first. If it’s trash, she won’t even bother to read it. This person will only read the short stories and not look at the more complex ones.

She seems to enjoy reading books that are full of action and quick to read, but doesn't take time to appreciate the deeper meanings in it. Even though this woman doesn't read books longer than 100 pages, she insists that she has no choice but to read them because they are long and boring. The problem with this is that there are many books that can be written in shorter chapters or books which are very easy to read. For example, you could write on a single page on how one should love their family or on how one should treat someone for a day, but these things can be explored on a book's pages with detail and details which you don't have time for on a trashy book.
